Overview

This project was made to show of my skills as a storyteller in games. This project is a story of a small coastal town suddenly having a big factory and corporation spring up in the area, and generally ruining the beautiful land of the town, along with changing the townspeople and their once happy-communal vibe into one of down-troddeness and despair. Your goal is to talk to and help people around the town. I think it will be very compelling for players to see the different views of the townspeople, and their reaction to the Enterprise, the group that has set up shop there. The people and their views will hopefully shape and or get the player to view things like this in a new light, and maybe change their worldview as a side bonus. All in all, this town and game was made just to get people to think more about their views on life. Through usage of environmental story telling, three dimensional character story telling, and other 3D level design skills like verticality, placement, visual-spatial story telling, and other skills, this project tries to show off each of them with regards to the story telling being the most important. Such examples include multiple, realist housing layouts around the town, different heights and layers to the town, different placement of NPC's around the town, and many more things. There are also some cases where if you say the wrong dialogue option to an NPC, their quest will be locked out from you, making you unable to start or complete it, and the NPC will no longer want to talk to you. All in all, all these features add up to impact the project by attempting to portray a story about community, threats to that community, complexity in people when we really talk to them, and hopefully self-reflection in the player as they play while trying to convey an area that gives that feeling of hometown comfort and serenity. Have fun!
